General
Summary: Accountable for scheduling, and supervising independent contractors and vendors to perform various phases of construction for single family residential homes from site preparation to closing. Responsible for quality control to ensure projects are constructed to company standards on time and within budget. Act as support to mentoring Builder as the incumbent learns the responsibilities of a Builder and outlined in the scope of work.
Essential Functions:
Under general supervision, the Assistant Builder will be responsible for the daily operations of construction including:
Schedule and manage independent contractors;
Order and receive materials;
Meet with customers, inspectors, and supervisors to discuss the status of construction;
Ensure that job sites under construction are kept clean;
Inspect job site and authorize payment for various stages of completion.
To construct a quality project within a prescribed time schedule and on budget.
Responsible for checking in all materials received at site, including original and extra material purchase orders.
Enforce OSHA and EPA requirements.
To manage and inspect the methods, materials and quality of the job performed by independent contractors and hold them accountable to Tilson quality standards.
Schedule and organize independent contractors to complete work on a timely basis and complete/approve subcontractor payroll.
Properly execute independent contractor agreements, work orders and change orders.
Schedule routine inspections with appropriate authorities.
Attend builder training and apply skills and knowledge learned.
Maintain rapport with the clients in regard to buyer concerns and custom options.
Assist in hiring independent contractors.
Must have a valid driver license and have clear driving record for company vehicle insurance purposes.
Customer service When the needs of the company or its customers dictate, this job will entail whatever needs to be done that is assigned by a supervisor/manager and is within the employees capability to deliver.

Skill in the use of a personal computer with Microsoft Office products, smart phones and various application programs.
Knowledge of Microsoft and Apple products.
Must have ability to handle multiple tasks in a high stress environment.
Must have excellent time and project management skills.
Leadership ability strongly preferred.
Problem solving skills required.
Must be detail oriented.
Great deal of flexibility with hours of operations.
Ability and inspect work-in-progress items throughout the new home construction process while maintaining high level of quality.
Bi-lingual (English Spanish) beneficial.
Education and
Experience:
Bachelors degree in a related field beneficial.
Experience scheduling and supervising preferred.
High school diploma or equivalent required.
Physical Requirements:
Must have the hand/eye coordination necessary to operate office business machines (calculator, phone, fax, copier, etc.) and a personal computer.
Hearing and speech sufficient to verbally communicate in person and on the telephone.
Physical ability to work on irregular surfaces and cramped areas (rough lots, crawl spaces, stairs, attics, roofs, etc.)
Ability to drive a vehicle.
Ability to lift 50 pounds.
Availability and ability to work extended workdays.
