Sous Chef

Job Description

Midlothian Country Club is seeking to hire a Sous Chef. The position requires highly enthusiastic, member visible professional engaging personality. Our food and beverage calendar offers a full range of social events including wine dinners, theme nights, special events and a la carte dining.

Duties include but are not limited to:

  • Manage and coordinate daily activities of the kitchen staff

  • Establish standardized recipes and specifications to ensure a high level of consistency

  • Ensure high professional atmosphere in the kitchen with an emphasis on cleanliness, order, sanitation, team and safety

  • Establish and maintain effective cost control measures for both food and labor cost

  • Meet and exceed member expectations

  • Actively solicit the feedback of the kitchen staff, service staff and members as to all menu offerings

  • Foster an atmosphere of cooperation and mutual respect for all employees

  • Participate in daily line-ups for the culinary and service staffs

  • Undertake special projects as assigned by the Executive Chef

Desired attributes, skills and experience

  • Knowledge and proven experience with 3-5 years as Sous Chef, Chef de Cuisine, Lead Line Cook, with full responsibilities for an upscale club

  • Private Country Club experience is preferred

  • Valid drivers license and servesafe

  • Develop, execute and rotate a la carte menus with diverse offerings on a frequent basis

  • Broad knowledge of variety of cuisine and service styles

  • Ability to meet scheduling needs as business demands

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
